Kampong Buangkok
Urbanization is inevitable process. Everything will change. Sometimes we just need to accept it to see what will happen. But there are always people who refuse to change their way of life.
Here is a photo set from my visit to Kampong Buangkok, known as the last surviving kampong in Singapore. I met Nek Esa, one of the residents, who has lived there for years. She said that the whole kampong is owned by a Chinese family. She rents the land space where her own house is on from the landlord for about $10 each month.
I witnessed a different standard of life where relationship with nature is significant and the way they put things on their house is peculiar.
